Childbirth Education Classes

“My wife and I took Erika's virtual LGBTQ+ Childbirth class and were so impressed with her ability to teach, empower, and build community, even over Zoom. She is clearly a very knowledgeable and experienced doula but is also a gifted educator, advocate, and caretaker. We are grateful for the experience of her class and feel much more ready to have another baby. Our only disappointment is that we don't live on the West Coast, because we would have loved to have her as our doula!” -Kristen Campbell

WBP Childbirth Education and Postpartum Preparation Classes Combine and include a year-long relationship with cohorts. After class ends, we’ll check in with one another 4 more times; 3 months after the class, 6 months post-class, 9 months post-class, and a year after class. This is a time for us to share birth stories, challenges of new parenthood, and successes, offer help, and create a community within the cohorts.

Each participant of virtual offerings will have an additional hour-long one-on-one session with me to help with further processing and planning for labor, birth, and postpartum.
Each participant has access to my 70+ page workbook that includes writing exercises, breathing techniques, visualizations, recipes, resources, and more.

Q- I only see CBE Classes for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks. Can I take your classes if I don’t identify as LGBTQ+ or BIPOC?

A- In 2021 I made the choice to only teach BIPOC and LGBTQ+ Classes, as we’re often underrepresented in CBE Classes. It’s important that queer and BIPOC folks have safe spaces during their pregnancy journey and I’m happy to be able to facilitate this. If you’re not BIPOC or LGBTQ+ and looking for a CBE Class I recommend Lena Wood of Revolutions Midwifery and Esther Darms. If you’re a trans person giving birth and prefer to work with a trans childbirth educator, I recommend Moss the Doula.

If you’re interested in a PRIVATE CBE Class, please fill out the contact form to set up some time to meet. 1
Private CBE Classes are great for folks who can’t make the in-person classes, folks outside of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people who want more individual learning for their specific birth needs or wishes.

Private CBE Participants have access to Whole Body Pregnancy Parent Hub (coming soon) and folks who are LGBTQIA+ will be added to that community as well. Private CBE Participants have access to the virtual manual as well as extended support as needed withing my availability.

Pricing for Private CBE
Individual/Solo Parents : $110
Couples/2 Parents: $ 235
Throuples/3 + Parents : $250

Welcome to Childbirth and Parenthood Preparedness Class! I’m so excited to help welcome you on this ever-changing journey of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. I wrote the curriculum for Whole Body Pregnancy Childbirth and Parenthood Preparation to fill a me-sized hole that I saw in the birth world. Too often the “gate-keepers” of birth in America are cis-gender, white folks. Brown and Black folks aren’t often represented or centered. LGBTQ+ folks aren’t often centered. Fat people or larger bodies aren’t centered. I created this class in the hopes of providing ALL families practical information about the physiological aspects of labor, childbirth and postpartum, but also to help folks connect with the spiritual, mental, and holier aspects of what it is to transition from someone who is pregnant or doesn’t have children into parents. I created this class so that ALL families would see themselves represented in the visuals, language and spirit of this class.

My goals for this Childbirth and Parenthood Preparation Class are simple and complex. I want you to trust, I want you to stand in your power and I want you to feel educated. I strongly believe that these three areas will help you towards a birth and 4th-trimester experience you can look back at with contentment and hopefully happiness.

Labor, Birth, and the 4th Trimester are full of maddening contradictions. It’s about relinquishing the human desire to control in order to give way to the more basic, inherited instincts of listening, hearing, and honoring what your body and baby have to say. We have the tools, we just need to remember how to use them. Whole Body Pregnancy aims to help you find your voice. It aims to help you come into better relationship with your body and your partner(s).

The journey may not be easy, but neither is labor or parenthood. It may not be hard either, because sometimes labor and parenthood aren’t hard. I hope that it will be challenging and life-affirming for you. Thank you for taking this journey with me.

Erika's Virtual BIPOC Childbirth Preparation Class was the most beneficial pre-birth experiences/resource I came across. The space she cultivates for BIPOC, her message and voice, her approach to childbirth ... it was all incredible! My partner and I felt so much more at ease after taking this class than we would have otherwise. And we felt extremely empowered to ask for what we want and need when dealing with the medical community during our upcoming birth experience. I cannot recommend Erika and her work enough.  - Christina Butcher
